“There are no facts, only interpretations.”
- Friedrich Nietzsche
Emotions can bring color to our lives, but like a double-edged sword, can also cause us both joy and suffering.
I first became interested in studying emotions and emotion-based interventions having worked in educational settings and non-profit, where burnout and interactions often resulted in maladaptive emotional responses. I wanted to better understand the conditions that allowed individuals to engage with their emotions in ways that were not only beneficial to themselves, but to those around them.
Our emotions vary a great degree depending on context, our past experiences, and our cultural background. Currently, I am pursuing my doctoral degree in affective science at the University of California, Irvine. Through my research, I aim to disseminate my work through talks in both academic and non-academic settings. Additionally, I offer workshops that are grounded in the skills developed from the Cultivating Emotional Balance curriculum. Whether for professional or personal interest, these workshops seek to support individuals in working more closely with their emotions.
